3G iPhone is here!

18 06 2008

At last, the 3G version of my favorite phone is out. New notable features include black glossy plastic back, same wonderful multi-touch screen, 3G speeds (duh!), scientific calculator if you flip your phone to landscape view when using the calculator (MisterK who has applied to the dev program has show me this feature but it had bugs at the time). The new 3G iPhone will be shipping with the 2.0 firmware (which is a free upgrade for current iPhone users. The price for the 8GB iPhone is 199$, the 16 GB which is available in black and white will be hitting the stores at a 299$ price-point, which is a significant price drop from the launch of the original iPhone. This is a very worthwhile upgrade from the current one because of the new GPS. The iPhone will be able to do tracking combining Wi-Fi hotspots cellular towers and now GPS to track it. I will not be upgrading to this one because I am not in the list of the newly supported countries and I don’t want to have to live again the pain of hacking the iPhone and such, and I am very happy with the phone I already have so…

Battlefield: Bad Company

17 06 2008

Battlefield is a series that I have always loved. I have just played and finished the demo of battlefield bad company for PS3, which is available as a 1600-ish free download from the PSN. The graphics and story blew me away. The new frostbite engine will enable this game to be the best FPS available today. This game is all about blowing up buildings, tanks, and so on. I cannot wait to have this game between my hands and get to play with it. The online part will be the most compelling part of this game. Up to 16 players can play in one online game. A multitude of maps will be available for gamers to play on.(Currently on the online demo there is only one map to play on against other people. You can add me on the PSN, i am ghalimacman on the PSN or leave your PSN ID in a comment and I will be glad to add you and possibly play against you online Battlefield games. You can typically find me playing online GTA games if I am not playing the actual game. (I am almost finished with it.)

Grand Theft Auto IV Review (PS3 version)

16 06 2008

Here is my review of the best selling game for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 out now which is Grand theft Auto 4. This is a must have, all from the graphics to the soundtrack to the voices of character to the story-line and finally the incredible new online game features. Lets start with the graphics, they are awesome! These are by far the best graphics in the history of gaming in any console. All the characters have close to real life faces and expressions. The game is also very very very detailed. For example you could be walking down a small alleyway and find someone leaning on the wall smoking a cigar! when you push people they react usually by insulting you (like in any GTA game) and sometimes you end up in a fight because you made mad the person you pushed. When you are in the middle of the road and a car get close and bumps you, Niko goes to the ground and gets hurt then blames the man in the car by telling him he was really foolish of doing do.

The soundtrack is also excellent. Rockstar always chooses the best songs in all the genres and puts them in the game radio and game in general. My favorite song is Soviet connection which is the theme for Grand Theft Auto IV, a wonderful song by Michael Hunter. The online features give this GTA an unlimited replay period and the gamers would want to keep it because of the fun you have playing it. My favorite 2 modes are the more classic kind of ones which are death-match and team death-match. When I get bored or stuck in a mission I fire out the virtual phone and scroll down to the multiplayer section and let the fun start! This is a game that made me buy my PS3 and it was a game I was waiting to put my hands on. If you agree with this review or disagree with my thoughts, feel free to leave a comment to express your thoughts over this topic!

3G iPhone in june?

5 06 2008

All the rumors say that the next generation iPhone, with 3G networking, will be presented at WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference), then released a little time after. The rumors sites all seem to speculate that the 3G iPhone will include a GPS, which would be great side to side with the current maps application which kind of acts similarly as a GPS (it is able to find your location by the touch of one button). The design also is due to be changed. A black and rounded corner iPhone is what is in the talks. I personally have a current generation iPhone and will not upgrade to the new version when it comes out because of obvious financial reasons. If you happen to have a current generation iPhone, will you upgrade or not, why or why not? Even if you don’t have an iPhone, why are you choosing to buy this new one or why not? Why did you hold off on not buying the iPhone that is currently out in he stores? What are the features you’ve been waiting for?

How the iPhone changed my life

2 06 2008

The iPhone has been an excellent internet device that has gained me time numerous times and an intelligent device that can be a huge time saver. For example, lets say you are waiting for an email and you want to check if it has come or not, but your computer is shut down and your a little lazy at the moment and it’s a pain in the butt to start up and check it there, instead you reach down in your pocket and fire up your Iphone then tap on the mail icon and check for your mail there instead of on your good old computer. Or you want to check your favorite website or RSS feed and instead of your computer you choose your iPhone and fire up Safari to check out the feed. This is one of the many ways that helped me and maybe you also in your daily life.

My Thoughts On Gaming

5 05 2008

I am not much of a gamer. My gaming limits are set by my Macbook because of its low end video card. Now don’t get me wrong I love my Macbook and other Macbook owners can confirm that the Macbook is an awesome computer. But they can also tell you this: the integrated Macbook graphics are not made for hard core gaming. Here are the games that I enjoy to play on my Windows Vista Boot Camp partition: Fifa 08, which is the direct competitor of Pro Evolution Soccer (by the way I have been a long time Fifa fan and have not enjoyed playing PES) and GTA San Andreas, which is a 2004 game that I still enjoy to play with. But because of the console high prices I could not afford one because of the price of the games and the actual game consoles. Read the rest of this entry »

Top Apple Mail Features

25 04 2008

In this article, I will describe my favorite features in the new version of Mail, Apple’s email program. I personally use this as my primary mail client because of it’s ease of use and simplicity and it’s straight forward interface. You can leave a comment if you have other features you enjoy in Mail that I have not sited in this article or tell me which mail client do you use on your Mac and why you have chosen to do so.   Read the rest of this entry »

Aperture 2 review

19 04 2008

Changes from 1.5:

The interface has been revamped: the Metadata and Adjustment pallets have been compressed into three tabs at the far right of the interface. You can easily navigate these tabs using the W key to switch tabs. This is a very useful and productive interface enhancement. Another change that has been introduced by the 2.1 update is the support for plugins. Apple bundles with the 2.1 update some adjustment tools. Here are the 100+ new features in detail: http://www.apple.com/aperture/features/100.html Read the rest of this entry »
